So I saw the skimbat many many years ago (like 7+?) and thought it was cool, time went by came upon powerkites and their growing popularity, got as far as actually having a go but still didn't dive in all the way.
Looked up kitewings again 2 or so years ago saw they'd grown into a range of models though the sport itself is still waiting to break out more?, and was again struck with how awesome they were. Helped alot by the plenty of videos around by that time on snow, sand and grass. But again didn't do anything about it, time and significantly cost were hurdles (they sure aren't cheap)

Then, and here we get to the good part, I started thinking about them again in the last several months seeing if I could get one 2nd hand and lo and behold one pops up on ebay!.
So I snapped me up a kitewing - woohoo \o/. I think it's the 2009 5.5 model in yellow/clear. Having already looked at the site they must of recoloured it red and named it Rage starting in 2010?, dont know if they're any different other than colour, I know the + has carbon tubing.

Im now scouring sites like this for beginners info and guides to get me going but if anyone wants to chip in with anything even if its just hi then great :).

Oh yeh im based in the Nottingham area.

I'd heard that it was snowing in the UK, so I thought there would be some snow action for you guys. We've had a strange warm and farily snowless winter thus far in Canada (couldn't remember my password so started a new handle) Here is a little ice vid from early in the new year. I use mine on the beach, with my kitewing, so I just removed the deadman switch switch completely.

I do plan to build a calf switch at some stage, because I've got the mount point for a set of V brakes, just in case  I loose my head and take up mountain boarding.

I don't know if the ones with v-brakes or disc brakes have deadman swtiches

Really? How did you add a calf brake to it? Is there a kit I can buy that fits in or do I need to make it myself? Also, did you remove the deadman switch?
